Day 1Arrival and Transfer to Kibale National Park
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or Kampala, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide who will brief you about the journey ahead. After introductions and a short briefing, you'll encounter on a scenic drive to Kibale National Park, located in western Uganda. The drive offers stunning views of Uganda's countryside, including rolling hills, lush tea plantations, and traditional villages. Kibale National Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity and is often referred to as the "primate capital of the world." It hosts 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and L'Hoest's monkeys. Upon arrival at your lodge near the park, you'll have some time to relax and prepare for the exciting activities planned for the following day.
Day 2Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Community Tour
Today start your day with an early breakfast before heading into Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking. This activity is one of the highlights of Uganda safaris as it allows visitors to observe these intelligent and social primates up close. Accompanied by experienced park rangers, you'll trek through the dense rainforest in search of chimpanzees. Along the way, you'll also encounter other wildlife species and learn about the park's unique ecosystem. Day 3Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you'll depart Kibale National Park for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The journey takes you through scenic landscapes that include terraced hills, expansive banana plantations, and beautiful views of Lake Bunyonyi. As you approach Bwindi, you'll notice the transition to lush montane forests that characterize this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is world-famous for its mountain gorillas and is home to nearly half of the global population of these endangered primates. Upon arrival at your lodge near the park, you'll have time to relax and prepare for the thrilling gorilla trekking experience scheduled for the next day
Day 4Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park and Transfer to Lake Mburo
After an early breakfast, you'll head to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced guides who will explain trekking protocols and assign you a gorilla family to visit. Gorilla trekking requires physical endurance as it involves hiking through dense forests and steep terrain in search of these majestic creatures. Once you locate a gorilla family, you'll spend an hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watching mountain gorillas interact, groom each other, and care for their young is an extraordinary experience that leaves visitors in awe. Gorilla trekking not only provides unforgettable memories but also contributes to conservation efforts aimed at protecting these endangered animals. Following your gorilla trekking, you'll enjoy lunch before transferring to Lake Mburo National Park. Day 5Morning Walking Safari and Night Game Drive
After breakfast, you'll encounter on a guided walking safari led by an experienced ranger who will help you identify wildlife tracks and spot animals such as zebras, impalas, elands, and warthogs. En route, you'll stop at the Equator line for a photo opportunity and to learn more about this geographical landmark.
